The White Oak Roughnecks won the district opener defeating Tatum 22-0 last Thursday at home, improving their record to 3-1.

Offensively for the ‘Necks Dee Williams scored one touchdown, rushed for 180 yards and made two successful two-point conversions. Will Young scored two touchdowns, made a two-point conversion, and completed six of 12 passes for 65 yards. Young also returned an interception for 45 yards and a score, and he made eight tackles on defense. Latrell Henderson caught two receptions for 42 yards in the win.

“We played hard because we knew Tatum would step up,” Williams said. “It’s all about teamwork and we had some guys make some big plays throughout the night.”

Defensively Brock Reddic made five tackles resulting in a loss of yards for the Eagles and he almost blocked another punt in the win. Matthew Warrens had two tackles for a loss and Masen Riley had two tackles for a loss and one sack.

“It was a tough game mainly because of their offense,” Riley said. “We didn’t think they were going to play as hard as they did but we played a good game and our line did a great job. We have great coaches and parents who are very supportive and follow us.”

Other defensive standouts include, Ryan Owens and Reyson Gajewsky both who had three tackles for a loss and Landen Aycock had one tackle for a loss.

“Defensively we were outstanding yet again,” coach Paul Bucher said. “We got off to a great start scoring, then a pick-six on the following defense series really set the tone. We had some setbacks with some offensive drives, but we are very proud of the kid’s effort.”

The Roughnecks will be on the road tonight against Winnsboro. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
