Red Ribbon campaign kicks off today

Story by Chloe Bates, Photos by Kiah Coomes Today kicks off Red Ribbon week and students and faculty will wear red to show their commitment to not doing drugs. During lunch there will be a RRW table set up as a photo booth. Students will also receive a commitment sheet and a bracelet during their second period class. Students who get the sheet signed by their parents and bring it to school on Tuesday will get the opportunity to be in a drawing for prizes. Seventh grade ‘B’ team beats Arp in two games

By Chloe Bates The White Oak Ladynecks ‘B’ team handed the Arp Lady Tigers a district loss last night with scores of 25-8, 22-15. Mackenzie Pickard, dominated at the service line with six serves and contributed to the team total of 19. Katie Hinch, Raylee Gajewsky, and Jamie Richardson also contributed three serves each. “I was pleased with my performance last night and we were able to be successful against Arp,” Pickard said. “I just like the total team experience and my teammates are so supportive and encouraging.” The Ladynecks have stepped up their game, specifically with serves and digs, and players contributed when the pressure was on. Raylee Gajewsky added three points and a dig to the set victory.   “It was a great experience because I’ve not gotten to play this season because I’ve been injured,” Gajewsky said. “It felt really good to do well for the team. My teammates were really encouraging and I appreciated that.” Coach Joey Bohn has tightened up the seventh grade game plan and taught them to play tough. Players are now consistently showcasing their skills  and getting the win. The last game of the season will be on Monday, Oct. 22 on the road in Gladewater at 4:30 p.m....
