Students Dance the Night Away at Spring Fling

By Brianna Beamer Students enjoyed the first middle school dance in over a decade, taking advantage of dancing, photos, and snacks. Coach Joey Bohn served as the DJ for the event that brought over 150 students to the dance. Coach Bohn boomed out trendy songs and a couple of classics so the students could get the most out of their first school dance experience. ‘Spring Fling’ Dance Set for March 3

By Brianna Beamer For the first time in over a decade, White Oak Middle School is planning a ‘Spring Fling’ dance. The Student Council set the official date for March 3 at 6 p.m. The cost for tickets is $3 each.  The dance will include a selfie booth with props, including a selfie stick students can hook up to their phones to take pictures with their best friends.  “The dance is going to have lights,” Student Council President, Lynzi Smith said. “Also, Coach Joey Bohn will be DJ-ing the event so there will be some good music. We’re going to have food and drinks for sell for $1 each and that will help pay for some of the dance expenses. The event will be a semi formal dance, so students can wear regular clothes or dress up.” Students tried to plan for a event of this magnitude last year, but it did not happen. Ladynecks Come Up Short in District Championship Match

By Brianna Beamer  The eighth grade Ladynecks finished the season in second place after suffering a close 25-19, 25-21 loss to the Beckville Lady Bearcats this past Monday. The match was for the district championship. Sidney Anderson contributed  two tips, one kill, and three blocks; Madison Balboa chipped in with one assist, one dig, and one ace. Eighth Grade ‘Necks Pull Out 24-22 Win Over Winona

By Brianna Beamer The eighth grade Roughnecks came out on top last Thursday night with a hard fought win over the Winona Wildcats, 24-22. Landon Anderson threw for two touchdowns with Sam Dusek on the receiving end of both. Gunner Solis caught another pass from Anderson for another White Oak  touchdown. Book Club Reads ‘Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library’

By Brianna Beamer The semester event schedule for the book club will revolve around the group reading Escape from Mr.Lemoncello’s Library.      “We are currently reading Escape from Mr.Lemoncello’s Library collaborating with the Medina book club in Medina Tennessee, and looking forward to seeing the movie based on the book Mr. Lemoncello’s Library.” Media Specialist and Book club director, Mrs. Cooper said. The club will get to watch the movie as an added extra and skype with author, Chris Grabenstein, at the end of January. “I am really excited to be able to Skype with the author of the book we are reading, and I like reading in general so this is really fun for me.” Emma Raney said. Students are excited about the upcoming events of the year and are always accepting members.  Other Book Club activities include, a book tasting, where students find a book that they would like to check out while eating their lunch with friends.
