Ramos Walks to the Beat of a Drummer

By Abby Quesenberry Middle School Percussion teacher, Jacob Ramos, never really planned on becoming a band director until he decided that he had more interest in band than becoming a mechanical engineer. Ramos was the Head Middle School Band Director for Tatum ISD, but decided to change direction when he got the call to enter the ministry. He accepted an associate minister of music position in 2012 at First Baptist Church, Longview. New Journalism Program Makes Debut

By Abby Quesenberry White Oak Middle School added Journalism to the course electives for eighth grade. The class is taught by Mrs. Mitzi Neely. The class was put in place as a feeder program for high school and to help students, teachers, and parents stay updated on events happening throughout the school. Along with this new class, these aspiring journalists made the decision to create an online newspaper to make it more convenient to access important information.
