Story by Caleb Scott

The Polar Express movie first released on October 30, 2004. Over the years it has become one of the most cherished childhood Christmas movies of all time. It is based on the 1985 children’s book written by Chris Van Allsburg. It stars many talented actors including Tom Hanks, Jimmy Bennett, and Tinashe.

The Polar Express train ride has been popping up all over the country. The ride features excerpts from the movie including the Hot Chocolate song. They read the story to you, give you free Hot Chocolate and a Chocolate Chip cookie, and of course you get to meet with the one and only Santa Clause. Some characters from the movie will show up from time to time as you sing carrols. It is requested that your children wear pajamas on the train, and you don’t have to worry about it getting too cold on the train due to the heating all throughout.

So far there are 40 different train experiences around the country. The nearest location is in Palestine, Texas. Adults are priced from $40 to $99. Children are priced from $20 to $75. Adults with an infant are priced from $40 to $109. The ride averages around one hour and 15 minutes for a round trip. There are five different classes on the train. The highest class is the dome class, which features double decker Dome Car, complete with keepsake Polar Express mugs. Next is the Presidential class, which offers the same things, yet it has limited seats. Next is First Class which offers, table-top seating for parties of four. They also offer mugs. Next is Coach Class which features, historic Pullman-style seating for two. Finally there is an Open-Air Coach  has no glass in the panes so the outside air flows freely through the car. It is suggested that you wear warm clothing, hats and gloves in inclement weather. Blankets are acceptable. All cars have large viewing windows, thrilling children as they get their first glimpse of Santa and the North Pole. They are open from November 17 through December 27. Except for a few days due to maintenance and they are closed for Christmas day. Ride times are scheduled all throughout the day. For more information, please visit
