Eighth graders Lynzi Smith, Jeffrey Cook, Lillian Tucker, and Ashlyn Eynon made the All-Region choir at its annual fall auditions. Seventh grader Carson Engle was named first alternate.
“I think the students that made the choir are the ones who worked hard and put in the effort,” Lynzi Smith said. “It’s feels like a big accomplishment to make in for the second year and I can’t wait to perform with the choir.”
Through weeks of practice, the students worked to learn the advanced songs and sight reading skills necessary to make the choir. There were three songs required to learn: Keep your Lamps Trimmed and Burning, What Maiden Weeping, and Gloria.
“I’m very pleased with the outcome of the all region auditions,” Choir Director Susan Hoffman said. “I’m very proud of all the students. I think it was pretty good for my first year of teaching.”
The All-Region participants will travel to Mount Pleasant on November 11 for the performance.
