The Roughnecks pulled out a district win against the Redwater Dragons by a score of 22-12, bringing their season record to 5-2, and their district record to 2-1.
Dyllon Heist lead the way with 2 rushing touchdowns (55 and 1 yards) and two 2 point conversions. Dalton Morgan contributed one rushing touchdown (23 yards) for the ‘Necks.
“This was a good road win from the perspective of having to overcome several penalties that went against us as well as playing better against an offensive scheme that has given us problem,” Coach Ron Boyett.
Offensive Standouts include Running Back Dyllon Heist, Running Back Dalton Morgan, Slot Receiver Noah Carter, Offensive Line (Blake Robertson, Dylan Jones, Gavyn Jones, Caden Tyner, Caleb Scott.)
“We continue to play more physical and our tackling continues to get better,” Boyett said. “Offensively, we sputtered at times but put together a couple of good drives in the first half. We protected the ball and blocked well for the most part against a physical team.”
Defensive Standouts: Inside Linebackers Dyllon Heist and Dalton Morgan, Defensive Tackle Dylon Jones, Defensive Ends Caden Tyner and Blake Robertson.
Special Teams Standouts include Kicker Aven Whittington and Hunter Hill.
The Roughnecks travel to Jefferson next week for a key district contest against the Bulldogs.
