The Roughnecks won their district game against Sabine last Thursday by a score of 44-26, bringing their season record to 4-2 and district record to 1-1.

Running Back, Dyllon Heist lead the way for the ‘Necks with three rushing touchdowns (50, 64, 28 yards), one touchdown reception (56 yards) from Quarterback, Grayson Thompson, and three two point conversions.

Running Back Dalton Morgan added one rushing touchdown for 19 yards and one two point conversion. Free Safety, Noah Carter made a 70 yard interception return for a touchdown.

“Offensively, everyone played their role,” Coach Ron Boyett said. “We handled the ball cleanly, executed our blocking schemes, and ran the ball tough. Quarterback Grayson Thompson handled his first start with a lot of poise and played mistake free for the most part.”               

Offensive Standouts include Running Backs Dyllon Heist & Dalton Morgan, Offensive Line Blake Robertson, Dylan Jones, Gavyn Jones, J.T. McGrew, Caleb Scott, and QB Grayson Thompson.

Defensive Standouts include Inside Linebackers Dyllon Heist & Dalton Morgan, Outside Linebacker Colton Millwood, and Free Safety Noah Carter who had 2 interceptions. 

“Defensively, we tackled well for most of the game and defended the pass much better the second half,” Boyett said. “Overall, our team executed well on both sides of the ball and in the kicking game.”

The Roughnecks will travel to Redwater on Thursday to take on the Dragons.
