The eighth grade Roughnecks came up short in last Thursday’s game against Hughes Springs. The Mustangs outscored the ‘Necks 30-6.

The lone score for the ‘Necks was a 65 yard TD by Gunner Solis early in the first quarter.

The Roughnecks lost quarterback Landon Anderson to a fractured wrist in the third quarter and Gavin Bzdil went down with a hyperextended elbow in third quarter.

The boys held their ground the rest of the game and finished strong, not letting the Mustangs score again,” Coach Steve Gillispie said. “The team will be working hard this week to prepare for the next district game.”

The Roughnecks will host the Sabine Cardinals on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
