The seventh grade Roughnecks beat the Winona Wildcats by a score of 36-16, bringing their season record to 3-1.
“For our first road game, I was pleased with our intensity to start the game,” Coach Ron Boyett said. “We executed in all three phases of the game the first quarter which got us off to an outstanding start.”
Dylan Heist led the way with four rushing touchdowns (55, 7, 43, 65, yards) and one two point conversion. Landon Grant contributed to the win with one touchdown pass to Colton Millwood for 14 yards and two, two point conversions.
Other offensive standouts were strong tackle Blake Robertson, strong guard Dylan Jones, and center Gavyn Jones.
“We continue to improve on defense, particularly our tackling,” Boyett said. “I also see our offensive line doing a much better job. Overall, I believe we had a solid performance and we look forward to starting district play.”
Defensive standouts include inside linebacker Dyllon Heist, defensive ends Blake Robertson and Corbyn Fryant, and Free Safety Landon Grant.
The Roughnecks will travel to Hughes Springs on Thursday. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
